What is Local Discovery Card?
Local Discovery Card is a local discount membership that covers the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and surrounding areas, with hundreds of businesses offering members huge savings every time they purchase an item or service. Each member receives a personalised digital membership card which they can use with any of our business partners to receive the advertised discount or offer. After you have received your digital membership card, you just need to present it at the point of sale to claim your discount. All discounts are live and are subject to cancellation and amendments. So, please do check our website to make sure you know what all the latest promotions are. The Local Discovery Card monthly and annual memberships will renew automatically from the date on your card.
Do I have to live in the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley or surrounding areas to purchase a card?
No. Anyone can be a member of Local Discovery Card and take advantage of the fantastic offers for products and services.
How do I sign up for a membership?
Signing up for a membership to the Local Discovery Card is very easy and can be done through our website.
There are three types of membership
- Annual subscription
- Monthly subscription
- Discovery Pass (7 day pass)

Is your website secure to accept my credit/debit card payment?
Data security is of great importance to Local Discovery Card and to protect your data we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure data collected. We do not have access to sensitive billing information such as credit card or bank account details. This sensitive data is handled by the following 3rd party payment provider:

Can I get a refund?
The Local Discovery Card is non-refundable.
Monthly and yearly subscriptions can be cancelled before they automatically renew. Please see ‘How do I cancel my membership’ below.
How do I cancel my membership?
To cancel your membership before it automatically renews email info@localdiscoverycard.co.uk no later than 10 days prior to the date of expiry shown on your digital card for annual subscriptions and no later than 5 days prior to the date of expiry shown on your digital card for monthly subscriptions. Refunds cannot be issued for any remaining membership term after payment for renewed membership has been taken. Upon cancellation you will receive a confirmation email; it is recommended that this is kept for your own personal records.
Will my renewal fee remain the same each year?
While we have no plans to change our pricing structure, if it should become necessary to do so we would communicate this in writing at the earliest opportunity.
I have purchased a membership card online, when will I receive my card?
Upon registration and payment, you will receive a welcome email which will contain your digital card. You can store the digital card on your phone as an image or access it from the email to immediately start making purchases with business partners.
What do I do if I have signed up but not received my welcome email/digital card?
If your welcome email and digital card have not arrived, please contact us by email at info@localdiscoverycard.co.uk
Can my family use my membership card? Do I have to be present for my membership card to be accepted?
The card in whatever form is not transferable (may not be shared with friends or family), cannot be copied, and can only be used by the member who is named on the card. All card holders will be asked to verify their membership. Only individuals with matching ID will have discounts authorised. ID includes bank card, UK driving license, passport, and national identity cards.
When does my card expire?
You can find the expiry date printed on your membership card.
Will I automatically be sent a new digital card when my current membership expires?
As an ongoing subscription service, your membership of Local Discovery Card is automatically renewed at the end of your membership period (shown as the expiry date on your digital card) and at the end of each subsequent term until cancelled. You will receive a new welcome email including digital card.
The Discovery Pass is a one off 7-day card and does not automatically renew.
What can I do if I lose my digital card or delete my welcome email?

Can we purchase physical cards?
No. We provide a digital card to all members only as we are committed to reduce our waste and be an environmentally friendly business.

How do I prove I am a member for online purchases?
You can contact the participating business using the contact method in their business profile page on our website. The participating business will ask to see a copy of your card and ID and will then issue you with a digital code for use on their selling platform, manually take payment or invoice you for payment.
